Ayo Edebiri’s Complete Dating History

Comedian and actress Ayo Edebiri is in the midst of a big year in Hollywood, with her leading roles in The Bear, Bodies Bodies Bodies, and Inside Out 2 captivating many.
But with greater fame comes a greater public interest in her life offscreen, including her relationship status. Edebiri has managed to keep her love life private and has chosen not to discuss it in any interviews or on social media. That hasn’t stopped fans from digging and learning a little about who may be romantically linked to Edebiri.
Ahead is all we know about Edebiri’s dating history, including the relationship rumors that have popped up about her.
Colin Burgess
There’s only one relationship Edebiri has been in that has been publicly confirmed: hers with actor and comedian Colin Burgess.
They’ve generally kept their romance very private, including its start date and whether they are still together. But there were two public moments.
In February 2021, Burgess posted a selfie with Edebiri to Instagram. He wrote in the caption, “After much consideration I have decided that this year my valentine is my girlfriend Ayo. this is a photo of us together doing Dr. Jart+ Water Jet Vital Hydra Solution™ sheet mask.”
A year and a half later in September 2022, Burgess attended the Emmys with Edebiri, who was a first-time presenter at the awards show. He shared moments from the evening on Instagram, including some photos with her in the carousel.
“Congrats to my gf Ayo on presenting her first Emmy,” he captioned the post.
Fast-forward to September 2023, and some users discovered Edebiri and Burgess’s relationship for the first time and were upset by it. Burgess’s friend, Fire Island actor Joel Kim Booster, saw their comments and defended him on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In a since-deleted post, he wrote, “I’ve known Ayo’s boyfriend for close to a decade and he is such a kind, smart, funny dude and y’all are being weird as shit. Log off and make a real human friend I’m begging you.”
Edebiri and Burgess haven’t done any events in 2024 and have managed to keep their current relationship status to themselves. Burgess’s posts about Edebiri remain up, and they still follow each other on Instagram as of June 26.
Jeremy Allen White
Since Edebiri and show lead Jeremy Allen White became co-stars on The Bear, fans have speculated on the nature of their close offscreen relationship.
In a video that circulated in May 2024 on social media, Edebiri and White were spotted sitting next to each other with some other cast members at a Chicago Cubs game. In the clip, he can be seen rubbing her back before stretching his arm out and resting it on the back of her seat. Fans theorized there could be something romantic going on between them and shared their thoughts in the comments section. One user wrote, “I’m just gonna say I don’t touch my friends like that.”
Just a month later, in Edebiri’s Vanity Fair cover story, she and White opened up about their relationship.
“We really enjoy each other in life, on camera and off camera,” White said. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for her as a person, but also as an artist. And so I hope that sort of that kind of thing shines through on camera between Carm and Syd. Syd is always able to...I don’t know, to deliver something different to Carmy, and she’s usually right. And I guess I think Ayo is also usually right.”
Edebiri added, “Work can be a very intimate thing and a very personal thing and a very emotional thing, and I think when you’re also in industries that are creative or creative adjacent, I think there’s something that also invokes feelings of passion. Also, boy’s got some beautiful blue eyes. You know what I mean? Those are eyes you want to project onto.”
White has been romantically linked to Spanish singer Rosalía since fall 2023, although they haven’t been publicly spotted together since March 2024. In May 2024, she liked an Instagram post that he shared announcing The Bear’s season 3 release.
Paul Mescal
Edebiri has also been linked with All of Us Strangers star Paul Mescal. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day 2024, she posted a selfie with the Irish actor to her Instagram Story. (Edebiri, an American actress, has a long-running joke that she’s Irish.) In the photo, she held Mescal’s arm as they laughed together while sitting in an empty stairwell. Some fans imagined the two stars could’ve been teasing a personal relationship.
But a source told People on March 19 that they are “just friends.”
When romance author Emily Henry reposted their photo to her Instagram Story, some commenters speculated that they may actually be teasing an upcoming rom-com adaptation of one of Henry’s books.
The post came after Mescal told AwardsWatch that he’d like to “set myself a challenge to do maybe like a rom-com with Ayo or something like that would be cool.”
