Bert Kreischer knows how to make his wife, LeeAnn Kreischer, laugh.

The couple met at a bowling alley in Los Angeles in 2002, and the comedian said he knew early on that she was the one. "When I met LeeAnn, she was just different than everyone else,” Bert shared on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast in 2024. “She just got me. She didn’t want to change me. She wanted me to be who I was.”

The pair married at LeeAnn’s family church in rural Georgia in December 2003. They welcomed their first child, daughter Georgia Mae Kreischer, in June 2004 and their second daughter, Ila Grace Kreischer, in July 2006.

LeeAnn told Bensinger they have a lot of gratitude for the “beautiful life” they’ve built together, and Bert shared the sentiment.

“It’s bizarre. It’s not supposed to work like this,” Bert said. “She was pregnant when we got married. We were poor. I was failing as a comedian. I owed money in taxes. We were set up to fail. She gets all the credit because she was the one that put her dreams on hold and worked to support our family and put us up.”

Like her husband, LeeAnn hosts her own podcast, Wife of the Party. The project is a family affair — Bert, Georgia and Ila have all made frequent appearances, and it is housed within Berty Boy Productions, of which LeeAnn is a co-founder with Bert.

She grew up in Georgia

LeeAnn was born on Aug. 20, 1970, in Bowdon, Ga., a small town of about 1,600 people. Her parents divorced when she was 7 — her dad worked as a mechanic and her mom was a model who headed to Atlanta after the divorce.

When LeeAnn was 13, she moved back in with her dad and graduated from Bowdon High School. She attended Georgia State University in Atlanta and later moved to New York City, where she started her writing career.

LeeAnn's first date with Bert was a little stressful

LeeAnn and Bert met while bowling with mutual friends in May 2002. They were on the “singles” team, and at the end of the night, LeeAnn told Bert’s roommate to give him her phone number because she thought they’d have a good time together.

When Bert didn’t call, LeeAnn asked him why, saying she was cute and they had a blast bowling. She told Bert she’d go out with him if he’d just ask so, after some stammering, he did.

Night of, Bert didn’t go up to LeeAnn’s door but honked from the street, then went into what LeeAnn described as a panic attack when he saw her come out in a dress and heels. He was having trouble “tolerating” his own shirt and shoes and didn’t eat dinner, but he also didn’t want the night to end, suggesting new locations for dessert and a nightcap.

After that date, Bert called LeeAnn every day. On a 2023 episode of her podcast, Wife of the Party, LeeAnn shared that two or three weeks in she thought, “I’ve been dating the wrong guys ... that are just, like, pretty boring, and no wonder I’m cycling in and out of boyfriends.”

Four months into their relationship, when LeeAnn dumped him for 36 hours, Bert knew LeeAnn was the one.

“I knew I was in love with her before then, but I wasn’t willing to say it, but then when she dumped me, I just remember going, ‘I f----- this up,’ ” he said on In Depth With Graham Bensinger.

Bert won her back by making a mixtape and putting it on LeeAnn’s windshield. She said the stand-up comic poured his heart out on the CD liner and repeatedly told her to listen to track eight because it was how he really felt and if she “understood,” she’d “come back.” The song was “Warning Signs” by Coldplay.

Bert and LeeAnn got married in Bowdon on Dec. 27, 2003.

Their wedding was held at a one-room church built in the 1840s, the same building her grandfather went to school in and her late family members are buried behind. “Best wedding and best decision I ever made. Love you everyday. Here’s to 20 more,” LeeAnn wrote on Instagram in 2023.

The couple were so broke when they got married, they asked the family to make food for the wedding, which included barbecue, potato salad and cornbread. LeeAnn drove herself to the nuptials in a pickup truck, her cousin made their wedding cake out of Krispy Kreme donuts and the drink of choice was muscadine wine.

“It was really beautiful because it was so authentic,” LeeAnn told Bensinger, to which a visibly choked-up Bert added, “It was cool. It was very fun.”

On their wedding day, a friend warned LeeAnn that Bert was going to be a kid forever, but they’d “have the best life” if LeeAnn let him. “I think that’s what I’ve always done. I’ve always just been in love with who he is,” she told Bensinger.

Bert and LeeAnn are parents to two children.

They welcomed their firstborn, daughter Georgia Mae Kreischer, on June 8, 2004. Their second daughter, Ila Grace Kreischer, joined the family on July 18, 2006. They were raised in L.A., where LeeAnn was their Girl Scout troop leader for 13 years.

Georgia and Ila are regulars on Bert’s tours, with both parents posting many family photos from the road on social media. Georgia goes to college out of state, while Ila graduated high school in May 2024, with Bert proudly sharing on Instagram that she got into every university she applied to.

Bert was the one who suggested LeeAnn should start a podcast, but she was worried people would dismiss her as only Bert’s wife and didn’t feel right about his suggestion that she should just “rant.” Instead, she decided to make a podcast that she wanted to listen to, which started as her girlfriends sharing honest conversations and teachable moments.

“If I’m learning something, then it’s worth my time, and hopefully it’s worth whoever listens time,” she told KFC Radio in 2024. “But Bert was like, ‘Listen, you have to do it, because you are right, you have so many great friends.’ And I have so many life experiences that are odd and unusual.”

Topics revolve around family, marriage, relationships and LeeAnn being married to “the life of the party.” Bert — her first guest — and daughters have made a number of appearances, but friends and comedians are the podcast’s regular guests. Interviewees have included Whitney Cummings, Nikki Glaser, Dr. Sandra Lee (a.k.a Dr. Pimple Popper) and Fortune Feimster.

LeeAnn is COO of Berty Boy Productions, the L.A.-based media and production company she and Bert co-founded.

Her podcast is a part of the network, as are Bert’s, and she has helped produce two comedy specials, Bert Kreischer:Razzle Dazzle and Shane Torres: The Blue Eyed Mexican, both in 2023.

LeeAnn also helps run the Fully Loaded Comedy Festival, a touring show Bert calls his “dream come true” and is now a family affair. After the first tour in 2022, LeeAnn convinced Bert to reinvest their earnings from the first year back into the festival and set up excursions for the touring comedians.

Acting is also on LeeAnn’s resume — she can be spotted in an early scene in Bert’s 2023 movie The Machine — and, along with her husband and kids, she made an appearance on the small screen in a 2023 episode of Family Feud.

She is a writer

LeeAnn has been a writer for years. She doesn’t write for Bert but she does collaborate with him, like going over the first drafts of his specials.

“We’ve collaborated on all of his decisions forever ... not because I’m bossy but because we’re a team and our team means more than anything else going on in his career or my career,” she told KFC Radio.

When LeeAnn and Bert were first dating, she had sold one screenplay, optioned four and had a deal to develop a novel into a screenplay, but she put Hollywood on hold when she got pregnant. Intense and prolonged morning sickness kept her off her feet for much of her pregnancy, and then Bert was on the road three days after Georgia was born.

“So from that point on I was like, my life — I chose and would not change at all — paused,” she told The Skinny Confidentialin 2024. “My goals paused.”

LeeAnn found it difficult to balance writing with motherhood, sharing on the First Date With Lauren Compton podcast in 2024 that she took a break from it rather than risk taking out her professional frustrations on her kids. She picked up writing again during the COVID-19 pandemic, taking a UCLA Extension course via Zoom, and wrote an outline for a book she hopes to complete.

LeeAnn handles Bert’s many days on the road with “grace and gratitude”

As a successful comedian who tours frequently, Bert spends a lot of time away from home. LeeAnn has said on multiple occasions that she doesn’t mind him being on the road. She told TSC that Bert is the co-dependent one while she is “super independent,” and she “never doubted for one second” that he wouldn’t come back home.

“I think that’s the piece for me that was really important is that I finally have somebody who’s really never going to leave me, because I couldn’t get rid of him if I tried,” she said. “I mean, like, from day one."

LeeAnn feels her marriage is stronger because of everything they’ve gone through together.

“We have two words that we live by in our family and it’s our creed: grace and gratitude. Wake up every day with gratitude and every moment of your day should be dictated by grace,” she said on TSC, noting her younger daughter’s middle name is Grace for its “beautiful meaning.”

What helps keep Bert and LeeAnn’s marriage strong is that they started “dating” each other again in 2024, and they hold a yearly “summit,” which LeeAnn likens to a business meeting. They ask each other questions about “everything,” including their sex life, communication, money, parenting, pets and wellness.

“It’s like an overall temperature taking of where each person is and we put our weapons down at the door,” she explained. “You show up at the table with the intention of learning ... what's your agenda for this year or this moment in time or this relationship. And here's mine. And wanting to understand where you each are."

Bert and her kids are a regular presence on LeeAnn’s Instagram and vice versa.

Many of her posts give fans insight into their life together, which include photos of LeeAnn and Bert traveling for the comedian’s tours and fun outings like attending the L.A. Dodgers’ opening day in March 2024, seeing Pearl Jam at The Forum in L.A. in May 2024 and beach days.

“Love you Babydoll. You’re the cutest,” LeeAnn captioned a throwback photo of herself and Bert from one of their early dates.

Bert is known for his party image, but fans also know how much love he has for his wife and daughters. In 2017, he celebrated his wife’s birthday on stage at the Improv in Brea, Calif., where she was presented with a cake as the audience sang “Happy Birthday.”

In another sweet moment, the comedian shared a video of Georgia surprising LeeAnn with a visit home from college for Mother’s Day 2023. LeeAnn started crying and hugging Georgia, and Bert can be seen in a video call smiling before Ila and Georgia give him a thumbs up for a surprise gone well.

LeeAnn is embedded in the comedy community. She took Wife of the Party on the road with a live show at the Nashville Comedy Festival in March 2024, and she joins Bert on the road.

Cummings, Torres and Dave Williamson are among her and Bert’s close comedian friends, and she calls Mark Normand her “little brother,” telling TSC that he’s “just the best.”

“Comics are the hardest working people in any art,” LeeAnn shared on her podcast in 2024. “I’m biased because I’m married to one.”

LeeAnn grew up watching comedy specials from George Carlin and Eddie Murphy with her dad. She told KFC Radio that she always loved stand-up but had never dated a comedian nor had any interest in pursuing that world before meeting Bert.
