Those beige-loving influencers have done it again. Thanks to all that Pinteresting and link-in-bio-ing, I am now the owner of a big, white couch, and if they weren’t so darn right about it being a “must-have piece”, I would call the FTC on them for all their relentless pro-neutral aesthetic rhetoric. (For legal purposes, I am just kidding.) But, again, they’re right! A BWC looks darn good in my living room. It goes with everything. I enjoy living aesthetically. I am a happy clam. Only issue is we just got a new puppy and I am absolutely kicking myself for choosing a white couch while he’s still potty training. What have I done? Thousands of dollars down the drain. Countless hours spent pre-treating stains with a mix of vinegar, bleach, and my own tears. If anyone knows how to get stains out, DM me. …Ha! Sike!

This couch has removable slipcovers that you can put in the wash!!! I am fearless! Cocky, even! We’ve eaten red sauce on it! My boyfriend has crushed M&M’s on it with his ass! My puppy has even taken several wees on it! Yes! Several! And no, you can’t see (nor smell) a thing! God, I’m obsessed with you, Sundays Movie Night Couch, you hot, stain-resistant sectional. Muah. Read on for all the reasons why I love her.

But first, some quick hits:

Pros

It’s machine-washable

When I first started shopping for a Big White Couch, I knew it had to be strain-resistant. I’m a dog mom of two. I’ve seen some shit. I’ve seen literal shit on upholstery before (not my dogs’ though, they are perfect little angels). So I know the importance of having stain-resistant furniture, especially in a room that is so often used. But for me, it wasn’t enough to look for a stain-resistant couch. I didn’t want to spend the rest of my days spot-cleaning. I wanted something that I could stick in the laundry machine and then move on from.

The Sundays Movie Night couch is just that. Get this: Fully. Removable. Slipcovers. Yes, even the frame! The LiveLife Performance Fabric is not only stain-resistant and water-repellant, it’s also machine-washable (Sundays recommends washing on a cold, gentle cycle). You could even get the covers dry-cleaned if you prefer.

One would think that after several washes, the fabric would pill. But I’m happy to report that I’ve never experienced that with this couch. I got mine in the Cream Linen fabric, and it’s maintained its relaxed, coastal linen texture throughout its many washes. No worries here!

It’s hella comfortable

One thing about me: I hate living rooms that look like you’re not supposed to live in them. Deading rooms, as I like to call them. Prim and proper sofas that look like your body will just ricochet right off once you take a seat? Get out. Sundays agrees, which is why the Movie Night couch line exists.

With its deep seats and perfectly slumped-over cushions, these couches are made to have that relaxed, lived-in look. And hell yeah, they’re as comfy as they look! The oversized feather- and fiber-filled cushions give it that instantly sinkable feel while the premium foam core offers stable support. And for someone who has poor desk-sitting posture (show me someone who doesn’t), my back always hurts, so I really, really appreciate those extra deep seats with solid core support. They’re great for—dare I say it—movie nights (hey, it’s in the name!) or when I’m working late because I’m a singer and need to park my tush somewhere that isn’t a stiff office chair.

The slipcovers are swappable

I’ll admit: Committing to a singular couch colorway requires a lot of courage from me. What if I’m no longer into the beachy, white couch aesthetic and want to go moody and dark academia instead? See, it’s not a matter of if, but rather when. And when it does happen, I won’t need to do away with this couch completely (literally, imprison me if I ever suggest that). Instead, I can just take the slipcovers off and swap them out for a different colorway.

Sundays makes it easy by having individual slipcovers available for purchase on their site, starting at $210. I know this because Sundays just came out with their new Nancy Meyers-esque Newport Stripe colorway, and I briefly spiraled, thinking, “I shoulda got that,” (very ‘I Think You Should Leave’ voice), before realizing that I can just simply swap out the slipcovers.

There are nine colorways and textures to choose from. Grab another set that catches your eye. Or get a couple of duplicates so that whenever you’re washing the old ones and waiting for them to dry, you’re not forced to sit on your couch all raw and sans slipcover.

It’s fully modular

If you’re already Team Modular Couches, keep it moving. This section isn’t for you. (Loves ya though, you get it.) But if you’re still open to the idea of getting a non-modular couch: Cut. That. Crap. Modular sofas are the only option. You may be looking for a two-seater couch for your 500-square-foot apartment right now. But one day, you’re going to move into a space with more square footage or an oddly shaped living room and think, “Oh, no we need a bigger/differently-shaped couch. What am I gonna do with this puny one?” And I’ll be over here on the internet shaking my head, saying, “Shoulda got a modular couch that would’ve allow you to add, subtract, or rearrange pieces.” These are the thoughts that go on in my head. I hate them usually, but in this case, I’m right.

The Sundays Movie Night couch is fully modular—and can be sold as preset configurations (L-shape, U-shape, whatever-shape) or à la carte pieces—but what I love about it is that it comes with hidden connectors so you can keep all the pieces together. And considering the number of times you’re going to body slam into the couch after a long day of work, I’m sure you’re going to love that too.

Con

It’s not cheap

I’ll be the first to admit that $4,950 for an L-shaped sectional isn’t exactly loose change. But then again, this isn’t a cheaply made couch that I plan to throw out after just a few years of use. This is a luxury, worth-the-investment couch (which is why you’re reading about it here, as part of our Cosmo Luxe series) and it’s made of top-tier quality and design. I don’t mean to sound like a broken record, but when it comes to buying furniture, you definitely get what you pay for. Buy a cheap sofa, get cheap quality. Buy a Sundays sofa, get top quality. Plus, Sundays makes it easy to pay in installments via Shop Pay if you’d rather that.

TL;DR

If you’re looking for a beautiful cloud-like couch that’ll survive real-life instances (and spills and mistakes and etc.), the Sundays Movie Night couch is it. I love that I can literally rest easy on it, knowing that I can just pop it in with my laundry whenever it needs a wash. No dry cleaning or harsh upholstery cleaner needed! But I doubt you’ll need to do that anyway, seeing as Sundays’ performance fabric is stain-resistant and water-repellant. I also love that this modular couch is future-proof, meaning that I can add or subtract pieces or even rearrange the configuration depending on my needs.

Other perks include Sundays’ free in-home delivery and assembly (man, I love not doing anything other than pointing and saying “I’d like the couch placed there, please.”), the couch’s generously deep seats (which get even deeper if you opt for the large size), and Sundays’ selection of chic colorways (all made of the brand’s stain- and water-resistant performance fabric). The wholeeeeee package, baby.
