I Compared Prince William & Prince Harry's Recent Body Language —and I Noticed the Same Thing in Photo After Photo

Prince William and Prince Harry may not be on speaking terms at the moment (or maybe they secretly are—only they and the walls of Kensington/Montecito know for sure), but there's no denying that even a continent apart, they're still brothers. And I'm not talking about their shared love of beards. I'm referring to their near-identical body language.

Both princes have been super busy as of late. Prince William, 42, is back to work after summer vacay with the fam (though Kate Middleton is still easing back into things after completing chemotherapy treatment). Meanwhile, Prince Harry, 40, returned from a tour of Colombia with Meghan Markle, took the stage at the One805Live! concert in California (wearing a controversial piece of neckwear) and is now in New York City as part of a jam-packed three-day visit.

At their latest events, both Will (in Scotland) and Harry (in NYC) had the opportunity to chat with others and give a public speech. I took a look at their body language during both outings and something quickly caught my eye: they're both, how do I say this...hand talkers?

In photo after photo from their most recent outings, the brothers are far from shy about using their hands to make their point. In fact, I'd say they use their hands a lot while speaking.

Though we've all seen them look stiff and stoic at more serious events (like the unveiling of their mother's statue), when the princes feel at ease—which they clearly are when it comes to public speaking—they let the gesticulating run buck wild.

Let's take William's latest outing for example. Last week, the future monarch paid a trip to Scotland to attend an event hosted by Homewards Aberdeen (and he was captured in a striking photo in the process). The prince was there to thank Aberdeen’s homelessness organizations for their amazing work, through his Homewards initiative. The five-year project, which launched last year, is part of the royal's efforts to end homelessness across the U.K.

As you can see in photo after photo, the prince's hands are, um, quite active.

Clearly William is at ease in these situations, comfortably conversing with members of the public without feeling restrained. In addition to his body language, his facial expressions show just how passionate he is about this particular cause—something that isn't too surprising given his lofty goals for putting an end to homelessness.

In the same vein, Prince Harry's latest appearance in New York City was quite relaxed and expressive.

Body language expert Darren Stanton told me (on behalf of Betfair Bingo), "He’s adopted an open palm gesture posture, where he shows a lot of his hands and his arms aren’t crossed. He has a great deal of openness and authenticity on display here because he doesn’t fold his arms in any way. These are all non-verbal gestures someone makes when they are being totally congruent with what they are trying to say. In situations where he’s out in America on his own, Harry comes across extremely relaxed."

And, just as with his brother, it's clear that Harry is so comfortable that he is extremely expressive with his hands, especially while public speaking. Throughout the trip, Harry has used gestures to share his passion and make his points.

Harry attended the Concordia Summit to chat with Diana Award recipients on the topic of the "Global Mental Health Crisis Among Young People."

He also spoke while attending a HALO Trust event celebrating Angola's leadership in landmine clearance (a cause near and dear to his mother's heart). Once again, his body language was very free and open, like his brother's.

They may live an ocean apart, but clearly these two will always be brothers. (Now if we could just get them in a room for a peacemaking reunion...)
