Dior Brings Sporty Eyeliner and Boyfriend Blush to the Runway

Maria Grazia Chiuri celebrated the strength of femininity more literally for Christian Dior Spring 2025, with a stunning, sporty collection inspired by Amazonian warrior women. At the show in Paris, models stomped the runway wearing moto jackets, lace-up sandals, leotards, and track-inspired pants—while artist SAGG Napoli, shot live arrows from a bow down the length of the entire runway. It was a spectacle in the best kind of way, which was only heightened by the beauty choices: elastic headbands, a half ponytail-knot combo from stylist Guido Palau, sporty black eyeliner, and blush meant to mimic a natural workout flush courtesy of Dior creative and image director Peter Philips.

"The keyword Maria Grazia used was Amazons. It's about strong women who, in this case, workout or have just come from a heroic battlefield," says Philips. "It's an apres-sport look."

To even out the models' skin, Philips and his team used Dior Forever Matte Foundation. "I always use matte foundation for the catwalk because it has enough coverage to battle with the light. And then it stays luminous because it's not a pure matte," he adds.

Philips called the look backstage a "workout blush," but he essentially was describing TikTok's favorite boyfriend blush trend. "So it's not on the apples of the cheeks. It's not a contour blush," he says. Instead, the Rouge Blush Colour & Glow was placed low under the cheekbone to mimic the natural flush one would get from exercise.

On the eyes, Philips and his team used Diorshow On Stage Crayon in the shade 099 Black across the bottom lashline, had models squeeze their eyes shut, and then quickly blended out any too-messy bits. "It looks like the day after—like we've been running and doing a workout," Philips shares. Brows were brushed up and lightly filled, and then lips were swiped with Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil in the shade Universal Clear.

The final touch for the makeup ensured the models truly looked glistening. "Last minute, before the girls go on, I do a little bit extra Dior Capture Totale Le Sérum placed on top of the foundation to get more of a wet effect," he says.
