You, currently: considering getting your real estate license, harboring a new obsession with price/square footage that truly no one in your friend group asked for, and convinced you're the only person who can sell the $250 penthouse in Central Park Tower. In other words, you just finished watching Netflix's Owning Manhattan, aka the even more deranged cousin of Selling Sunset.

In case you're new here, Owning Manhattan ~pulls back the curtain~ on Serhant, a buzzy New York City real estate group owned by silver fox Ryan Serhant and exclusively staffed by intimidating hot people and their dogs. And while the main takeaway from the show is that we're all poor and will never be able to afford an apartment, the show also makes it abundantly clear that Ryan Serhant is rich. Like, the man makes Scrooge McDuck look mid.

Example? In one casual scene, we see Ryan buying a fleet of expensive suits for both himself and his former assistant, as well as every single shoe in the store. And in another jaw-dropping moment, he gives three of his top agents Cartier watches. All of which begs the question: how much money does this man actually have in his bank account? Answer: a lot. But first, let's talk....

Ryan's Personal Real Estate Holdings

According to The Observer, Ryan purchased author Jonathan Safran Foer's Brooklyn townhouse in 2018 for $7.6 million (interestingly, he was the listing agent...so clearly he liked what he saw!). The outlet also notes that Ryan owned a $3.7 million condo in Soho, but it's unclear if he sold that property or held onto it as an investment.

Ryan's Total Net Worth, You Ask?

According to Celerity Net Worth, Ryan has $40 million in the bank. Which is...a lot. He earned this due to a combination of real estate commissions (obviously) as well as years on reality TV. Because as a reminder, in addition to Owning Manhattan, Ryan starred on Bravo's Million Dollar Listing New York as well as the spin-off Sell It Like Serhant and Million Dollar Listing New York: Ryan's Wedding (a four-part series which chronicled his marriage to Emilia Bechrakis). He's also authored several books, including Sell It Like Serhant: How to Sell More, Earn More, and Become the Ultimate Sales Machine and Big Money Energy.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Ryan made just $9,000 in his first year of real estate before leveling up to executive vice president of Nest Seekers International, where he launched the Serhant Team. The rest is lucrative history!

But Has Ryan Sold the $250 Million Penthouse Yet?

Much of the drama on Owning Manhattan season 1 revolved around the potential sale of a $250 million penthouse in Central Park Tower. Ryan had mere months to sell the property before it was given to another real estate agency, and the pressure was ON. He even recruited his top agents and tempted them with a $10 million personal commission.

So, did Ryan sell it? It's unclear. He still has the listing according to Street Easy, and the price has dropped pretty significantly to $195,000,000. More notably though, the Street Easy post says "temporarily off-market" as of a few days ago (July 13, 2024). Unclear if that means the property has been sold or if they're simply sick of people emailing to check on it after watching the show. Stay tuned!

On that note, truly cannot wait for season 2 of Owning Manhattan (it's called manifesting).
