A former New England Patriots player is denying allegations that he shoved an 82-year-old man to the ground during an argument about workout equipment at a Planet Fitness last month.

The retired NFL fullback, Patrick Pass, denied the Aug. 28 incident took place at the North Providence, Rhode Island gym when a reporter for local NBC 10 asked him about the allegations at his home this week.

“Look at me do you think I’m going to do that? Really, please, come on,” Pass, 46, told the outlet. “I have better things to do than try to assault someone.”

Pass, a three-time Super Bowl champion throughout his career alongside Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, was charged with assault of a man over the age of 60 and causing bodily injury, according to NBC 10.

PEOPLE has reached out to the North Providence Police Department for comment.

The 82-year-old man, Juan Muriel, told NBC 10 that when he woke up “the next day, I can’t walk, I can’t lay down, I can’t do nothing” because of his injuries.

“I felt like somebody pushed me for nothing,” the elderly man told the outlet. “I never touched him, nothing.”
