Whether you're on TikTok or not, chances are you've heard of Nara Smith. She's garnered millions of video views for making everyday items like chewing gum and Coca-Cola from scratch. But in most of her videos, the soft-spoken Smith can be found crafting more common dishes like roasted chicken with vegetables and grain-free, dairy-free waffles.

Despite her legions of fans, the social media phenom has received her fair share of criticism. Some have declared that her content is "all just fictional," and others have become "irrationally angry" over her videos.

And now she's finally responding to her haters. In a video uploaded earlier this week, Smith finally addressed the online hate by revealing the complex reasons why she chooses to cook from scratch for herself and her family.

"I wasn't aware that finding joy and cooking for my husband and kids would automatically mean that I just slave away in the kitchen, I don't have a job, and I have a whole production team at my house making that happen. To clarify, none of that is true," she explained. "I'm a working mom, juggling all kinds of hats and responsibilities. Cooking has always been a massive part of my life, especially after I got diagnosed with lupus and my eczema started flaring up again."

Smith previously spoke about her struggles with eczema, even sharing a video of her routine while she was dealing with a painful flare up last year.

In both her flare up video and the new TikTok shared this week, fans immediately rallied around Smith, offering their support and kind words.

"Never understood the hate on her, I actually wanna be like her someday," said one user.

"We see you Nara and those who actually see you know that you’re a momma trying her best," another person added.

One TikToker even applauded Smith for unleashing "the calmest clap back ever."
