Fans Say Travis Kelce’s Latest Game Day Fit Is So Taylor Swift-Coded
Fans who spotted Travis Kelce arriving at Arrowhead Stadium for the Kansas City Chiefs’ final preseason game on Thursday, Aug. 22, suspected that his outfit choice for the day might have been a nod to his pop superstar girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
The Chiefs tight end, who has been dating the 14-time Grammy Award winner for more than one year, joined her at several of her Eras Tour shows over the summer and even made his onstage debut during one of her concerts at Wembley Stadium in London, England, in June. Swift concluded her second string of dates at Wembley earlier this week, a fact some Swifties thought might explain the USA Basketball T-shirt Kelce wore as he arrived at the stadium for Thursday’s preseason game in Kansas City, Mo.
“So long London 😂🤣,” one fan wrote on X, formerly Twitter. The comment doubled as a reference to “So Long, London,” one of the songs featured on Swift’s new studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, and to the end of Swift’s Eras Tour performances in the city. Now that she has wrapped up the European leg of her hit international tour, Swift is expected to take two months off before the tour resumes, leaving her plenty of time to attend Kelce’s games as the NFL season begins in September.
While several others echoed the “So Long, London” reference in response to a video of Kelce’s game day outfit that his team shared on social media, others suggested that his T-shirt was actually a subtle reference to rumors that the “Cruel Summer” songstress might appear at the final night of the 2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC).

“She’s at the DNC isn’t she? That’s what this means,” one person predicted as another asked, “Easter egg?????!”
“Are you at the United Center right now?” one X user wanted to know, referencing the host location of the convention in Chicago, Ill.
“Ok... Anyone else thinking the USA shirt is an Easter egg for something that might happen in Chicago tonight???” another person wondered.
The Swifties’ comments reflected Thursday’s widespread speculation about who might show up as a surprise guest at the DNC. Rumors began spreading that it could be Swift or Beyoncé after people began noticing a vague time block in the schedule for the final evening’s festivities. Swift hadn’t made any endorsement in the 2024 presidential election at the time the rumors of her potential DNC appearance began swirling.
