Jodie Sweetin Reveals Her First ‘Big Purchases’ with Her “Full House” Paychecks: ‘I Worked Hard’ (Exclusive)

Jodie Sweetin’s time on Full House paid off… literally.

While speaking to PEOPLE about her back-to-school partnership with OLLY, the 42-year-old revealed her first big purchases while starring on her beloved ABC sitcom.

“I bought my first car and I paid for college,” Sweetin shared.

The actress — who starred as Stephanie Tanner on Full House and the 2010s Netflix reboot Fuller House— said that "the point" of working hard on the show was to be able to make a future for herself. "That was what all of the hard work went to,” Sweetin said. “It was worth it.”

Though the purchases were her own, Sweetin said her parents still set boundaries.

“I bought the car, but I definitely had to follow the rules, too,” she shared. “It was not like a free-for-all, not like, ‘Oh, this is totally my car and my parents had…’ No, they were like, ‘Yeah, it's our car, and you can fully have it when you're of legal age.' "

However, “I was very, very grateful for that,” she recalled.

Now a mother herself — to daughters Zoie, 16, and Beatrix, 13 — Sweetin is proud as she reflects on those early years.

“I always appreciated the fact that I worked hard to be able to do that,” she said about paying for her college education at Chapman University and purchasing that first car. “I know that those are things that can be really big first purchases. And I was pretty fortunate that I had worked most of my childhood and was able to take care of those things.”

As she watches her own girls grow up — “How did we get here so fast?” she mused to PEOPLE about time flying with her daughters — Sweetin makes sure to be transparent about who she is.

"One thing I have always done with my girls is admitted that I'm not perfect and that I don't always have all the answers and that I'm just trying to do my best," she told Today in May 2023. "Because I think it's important for kids to know that we're human too."
