Kate Beckinsale Dares to Bare in Backless Ball Gown and Dramatic Headpiece for Star-Studded Bash in Italy

The actress' jaw-dropping ensemble featured a sculptural skirt and her signature hair accessory

Kate Beckinsale is taking her glamorous style to the Italian coast.

Over the weekend, the 50-year-old British actress headed to Forte dei Marmi to attend The Fab Thirties, a star-studded charity event hosted by the Andrea Bocelli Foundation. For the Sunday, July 21 affair, Beckinsale brought the drama in a black and white gown that featured a plunging neckline and sculptural diamond-shaped skirt. The ensemble was also completely backless, showing off the tattoos along her ribcage and on her shoulder.

The Underworld star accessorized with a black headpiece and birdcage veil covering the top half of her face. She finished the look off with long, dangling earrings and a bold red lip.

Fellow event attendees included Sofia Vergara, Katharine McPhee and Shania Twain. On Friday, July 19, Twain, 58, appeared at the final night of Bocelli's three-day concert series in his hometown of Lajatico, Italy, to perform her brand-new take on her 1998 hit "From This Moment On" with the Italian singer, 65.

Beckinsale's dramatic hair accessories have become the subject of scrutiny — and she hasn't held back in defending her look.

In June, the star shared a series of Instagram videos that showed her wearing an oversize hair bow — her go-to style in recent months — along with an all-black ensemble of a vest, short shorts, tights and platform combat boots.

"Please take that ridiculous bow off," one user commented on Beckinsale's post.

The actress commented back, "As I said before, take that expression off your bitter a-- face. Unless you can't. In which case, condolences."

To another commenter who said the actress looked like "a toddler in a pageant," she quipped back, "Lucky old me."

Beckinsale, who recently revealed she was hospitalized for a hole in her esophagus, has also faced criticism from those who think her outfits aren't age appropriate. The star has doled out plenty of clap backs herself, but last week, Britney Spears spoke out in her defense.

"I realized how incredibly cruel people were talking about her IG saying she she needs more age appropriate content .. she's in her fifties and I thought it was pretty badass how she responded with a mini bow in her hair looking literally 4 years old 👍🏻👍🏻!!" the 42-year-old singer wrote on Instagram, adding that some of the hate Beckinsale has received is, "Not as bad as some of my comments saying it's sad that I'm as old as I am and I'm dancing every single day on my IG !!!"

Spears continued, "I know what it's like to be judged so it's a ridiculous and stupid subject initially but I think it's important to HELP EACH OTHER and invite each other to places that help our souls grow !!!"
