LA Couple Heartbroken After Pet-Sitting Service Loses Their French Bulldog

Gabriella Sidhu of Los Angeles, California says her Rover dog sitter had only been watching her dog for 14 minutes when the unthinkable happened. The woman lost her Black Brindle French Bulldog, Mushie. And now the dog mom and her partner are asking for help in getting the dog back.

Sidhu told KTLA 5 that they got a call from dog sitter, who has yet to publicly be identified, while she was watching their Frenchie on September 17.

This wasn't the first time that the woman had watched the 5 or 6-year-old Frenchie. Sidhu told the news outlet that the person had actually watched their dog multiple times in the past. But things took a turn for the worst that day.

Sidhu said that she received a call from the woman letting her know that she'd lost the French Bulldog near Victory Boulevard and Beck Avenue in North Hollywood.

“Based on what the sitter told us, she got out of the gate somehow,” Sidhu explained. “We got a call from our sitter after we’d just left, saying ‘I lost your dog, she ran out – I don’t know how, I don’t see her on the cameras, I don’t know where.’”

It was only after this latest incident that Sidhu learned the woman would sometimes watch up to 10 dogs at a time when she was meant to be watching Mushie. Something that would upset any pet owner and could have possibly made it hard for the sitter to keep tabs on Sidhu's pet. Although it's not clear if she was watching more than one dog on the day that Mushie vanished.

Sidhu and her partner have yet to find the dog. She says she's spent thousands of dollars on fliers and in her effort to find Mushie.

"It’s just devastating," she said. "We are so lost."

Sidhu says that a representative from Rover told her they would close the case if they didn't find the dog soon.

“Rover let us know they can’t make the sitter help us search and she is still caring for dogs,” Sidhu added. “On Thursday, [the sitter] said she couldn’t be out searching because she was watching eight dogs when she just lost a dog out of her care."

Meanwhile, Sidhu has been out searching "day and night" for their dog. The couple has been "sleeping in our car to be near the areas she was last seen since we are not from the valley," she explained.

The dog has been spotted a few times since she was lost. On September 19 she was seen in Toluca Lake at Cahuenga Boulevard and Camarillo Street and near the Toluca Early Education Center. But as of this reporting no one has nabbed her.

A representative from Rover gave a statement to KTLA 5 and told them their "hearts go out to Mushie’s family," — "we join them in hoping for a swift and healthy reunion," the representative said.

They stated that they'd offered a "significant reward" for any information leading to Mushie's return, and have "posted in online pet-finding websites that send alerts directly to local shelters and veterinarians, and reached out to members of our sitter community in the area," they added. "The reward and posts will remain active, and our team is ready to assist if anyone has information that helps bring Mushi home."

"The well-being of all members of our community is a top priority for Rover," the representative said. "In the rare event that a safety issue occurs during a booking, our 24/7 Trust and Safety team will conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate action."

Sidhu is asking that anyone who finds the dog or has information to reach out to 760-960-9272.
