Lenny Kravitz Brings Back His Iconic Giant Scarf in Fun Video to Ring In Fall: 'Here We Go Again...'

"Grab your big scarf," the singer says in the clip

Lenny Kravitz is ringing in fall the only way he knows how — with a giant scarf.

The musician, 60, brought back his iconic 2012 meme to celebrate the new season. In a clip shared to Instagram, Kravitz is seen walking toward the camera in jeans and a leather jacket, an instantly recognizable massive knit scarf slung around his neck.

"Grab your big scarf, it's the first day of fall," he says.

Kravitz captioned the Sunday, Sept. 22 post, "Here we go again… "

The video is a callback to a famous paparazzi photo taken of the star over a decade ago. In 2012, photogs caught Kravitz running errands while wearing a comically oversize brown scarf. The accessory topped off his casual ensemble of jeans, gray boots and a slouchy purple striped beanie.

The photo became an instant meme, and Kravitz continues to get in on the joke. In 2023, the Shotgun Wedding actor joined TikTok with the same clip of him recreating the iconic moment.

Kravitz is also still asked about the meme-worthy moment.

During a September 2018 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the talk show host playfully mentioned the memorable scarf.

“I cannot escape this,” Kravitz jokingly began. “I live in the Bahamas, I’m used to hot weather and I had to go to the store, I was buying some groceries and I thought I’d put on a little scarf to protect my throat, and that’s the scarf I had.”

“But Lenny, this is not a scarf, it’s a blanket!” Fallon, 50, replied.

“That was the day I thought I would break it out, and I had no idea that there would be paparazzi and that is now everything,” Kravitz said.

The singer went on to explain that internet jokesters seem to Photoshop the scarf larger and larger each year.

“Here’s the thing about the internet, though, that’s the problem — the scarf keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger,” he said, laughing as Fallon showed the audience a photoshopped image with a scarf so large that the singer’s head could barely be seen.
