Maren Morris showed her support for Vice President Kamala Harris by making an appearance at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

The country songstress took the stage at the United Center in Chicago, IL. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, where she offered a powerful performance of her 2020 song, "Better Than We Found It."

The track, which was released amid a summer of protests following the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officers, has a poignant message about social justice, making it a fitting song choice for the occasion.

In the lyrics, Morris sings, "When time turns this moment to dust / I just hope that I'm proud of the woman I was / When lines of tomorrow are drawn / Can I live with the side that I chose to be on?
Will we sit on our hands, do nothing about it? / Or will we leave this world better than we found it?"

"my absolute queen Maren Morris," one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter) after seeing the performance, adding, "Love this."

"I love Maren and that song," someone else applauded. "It was the perfect message for the DNC."

Another fan, who called Morris' performance "fantastic," spoke to the powerful message of the song in the context of the upcoming presidential election. "That song really touched a nerve with me. Perfectly sums up my feelings. And I reckon a lot of other folks' feelings, too."

Morris, 34, has become known for being vocal about various social topics, speaking out against issues like sexism and racism, and fiercely defending the rights of the LGBTQ+ community.

As a result of her public advocacy, the "Girl" singer has had a rocky relationship with the country music industry in the past few years, notably feuding with Jason Aldean's wife Brittany Aldean over her comments about trans youth.

Morris has even apologized publicly for the lack of inclusion throughout country music's history, stating during an appearance on RuPaul's Drag Race: Untucked in January 2023, "Coming from country music and its relationship with LGBTQ+ members, I just want to say I’m sorry."

"And I love you guys for making me feel like a brave voice in country music. So, I just thank you guys so much for inspiring me," she added at the time.
