Ree Drummond has quite the green thumb.

The Pioneer Woman star has been growing dahlias on her ranch in Pawhuska, Okla. — and to say she’s proud is an understatement. Throughout the summer, Ree has been sharing growth updates with her followers on Instagram and posting photos of her stunning flower garden. In an Aug. 7 Instagram video, she posed in her garden among the dahlias as she promoted the new fall collection from her Walmart clothing line.

Ree also shared an idyllic video of the ranch at sunset as she strolled through the floral beds.

“I dread the first frost. 😱 It will be an operatic tragedy!!! (Don’t worry, I’ll be sure to post all about it. 😂),” she wrote in the caption.

In late July, she raved about what "a joy" it's been to tend to her flowers. “My garden…oh my. It has been a joy. I know it sounds pessimistic, but I find myself already fearing the frost. What will become of me?” she quipped in the caption.

In a Pioneer Woman blog post, she gave some context about why they are so meaningful to her. She wrote about how this is the first time in ten years that she’s taken up gardening again. And the first time she grew dahlias in particular was in 2004, when she was pregnant with her youngest son, Todd.

“My mother-in-law Nan helped me get an old stone-lined garden cleaned out and tilled, and we even put up a pergola and a wooden swing. The kids were tiny…and I had not started blogging yet. But I loved flowers even then, and I was ready to go for it,” she said.

While she’s always been “deeply in love” with dahlias, which bloom bountifully in the summer, she didn’t have much time to keep it up as a new mom.

“I was just a tad busy in those days, haha, and totally distracted my motherhood and life, so I didn't tend to the dahlias like I needed to. So it was a short-lived love affair, and I never planted them again...until this year!” she wrote.

Ree's latest post on her Instagram Stories is a full circle moment. “Quick! Someone come get married before they wilt!” she captioned a beautiful bouquet.

On Aug. 4, the cookbook author’s youngest daughter, Paige, got engaged to her boyfriend of one year, David Andersen. “Paige and David are such a great match, a terrific team! Paige is my strong, mighty, wonderful daughter and the fact that she found a person she wants to spend her life with is a pretty indescribable feeling,” Ree said in a blog post.

Paige was overjoyed, commenting, “Love you mom!! Let’s plan a wedding 🤍🤍.
