“SNL”'s Sarah Sherman boards “General Hospital” as an etiquette tutor for Rena Sofer's Lois

"I can die happy," Sherman said of coming face-to-face with Tracy Quartermaine and Sonny Corinthos.

Sarah Sherman is bringing manners back to Port Charles.

The Saturday Night Live comedian is slated to add her zany comedy stylings to General Hospital for two episodes airing Thursday, Sept. 5 and Friday, Sept. 6, Entertainment Weekly has learned. But in a pivot from her usual gross-out humor persona, Sherman will appear as Ms. Finch, an etiquette teacher and dialect tutor for Rena Sofer’s Lois Cerullo.

Representatives for Sherman did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly’s request for comment.

As a longtime fan of the soap opera, Sherman told PEOPLE that her guest-starring stint is a dream come true.

“I had the best time of my life and I couldn’t believe I got to act in a scene with 'TRACY QUARTERMAINE'!” Sherman said, referencing the character portrayed by Jane Elliot. “I was so nervous about flubbing my lines, because I was surrounded by pros who memorize like a billion pages of dialogue a day.”

Crossing paths with the show’s infamous scheming socialite wasn’t the only highlight of her appearance. “I met Sonny Corinthos, so I can die happy,” Sherman added, name-dropping the mob kingpin played by Maurice Benard.

Sherman is joining General Hospital after a particularly busy summer for the long-running daytime TV series, which has just celebrated the return of several fan-favorite characters. In August, Jonathan Jackson, who first played Lucky Spencer back in 1993, returned for the first time since 2015. Last month also saw Rick Hearst reprise his role of Ric Lansing, Sonny’s half-brother. Emma Samms, who's portrayed Holly Sutton on and off since 1982 — including one occasion when she seemed to come back from the dead — is making her own return later this month.

The show launched in 1963 and holds the Guinness World Record for the longest-running American soap opera in production.

Sherman joined the cast of SNL for its 47th season in 2021, beginning as a featured player before being promoted to a full cast member in 2023. The comedian, who quickly gained acclaim for adapting her surrealist style to the NBC show, has previously cited TV shows ranging from Seinfeld and The Nanny to Pee-wee's Playhouse and The Ren & Stimpy Show as comedic influences.
