Super Smart Corgi Manages to Learn All Her Favorite ASL Words

Corgis are renowned for their intelligence, and one precious Corgi named Eowyn proved just how smart they can be. Eowyn amazed her owners, one of whom is deaf, by learning the signs for all her favorite words.

The video, shared by the TikTok account for @ThesigningD, explains, "My wife is deaf and when she moved in here with myself and my Corgi Eowyn it was quick that Eowyn learned she's deaf and started picking up on all the signs we use at home. And at first I thought that was gonna be amazing, but the problem is that this Corgi is very smart and started to learn the signs for all the fun words she likes."

Eowyn knows the sign words for dinner and ball and her reactions are just everything. One person commented, "the immediate barking when you signed “ball”  SUCH A GOOD GIRL." Another added, "My ex was completely blind. His guide dog completely understood that I could see and he couldn’t. She always made me step over her, but moved for him." Another person said, "I train deaf dogs using ASL. My dog is deaf as well. He definitely knows all these too."

What amazing stories these are! We really don't deserve dogs and it's always so cool when they show us just how intelligent they really are.

How Smart are Corgis?

Corgis are known for their high intelligence, and this coupled with the fact they are fast learners and love pleasing their owners make these little pups a wonderful family dog.

Corgis tend to get along great with other pets in the house. They might try to herd them, though. Because they are herding dogs, they might see other animals as something they need to herd. They love children but might try to herd them a little, too. Consistency is the key, and as with any dog breed, it is important to train both the dog AND the child on how to properly interact with one another.

Rover explains, "Those who live with corgis know that they’re more than just a cute face. Like most of the herding breeds, they’re smart and easy to train. In fact, they’re rated as the 11th smartest breed in Stanley Coren’s book The Intelligence of Dogs. Corgis excel in agility, obedience, tracking and, of course, herding."
