Surprise! Buckingham Palace Announces Princess Beatrice Is Expecting Baby Number 2
It's official: 2024 is the year of royal babies. There was Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa of Jordan, who welcomed their daughter, Princess Iman bint, in August. Then, later that month, Prince Ludwig and Princess Sophie of Bavaria welcomed their baby boy, Prinz Rupprecht Theodor Maria. In September, Prince William and Prince Harry's third cousin, Maddison May Brudenell, welcomed her first child with fiancé Bret Kapetanov. And now, Princess Beatrice is joining the party with a major baby announcement of her own.
Earlier today, the royal family announced that the princess, 36, and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, are expecting their second child together. They took to Instagram and posted two photos, including a romantic portrait of the couple embracing and a snap of Mozzi walking with their kids, Wolfie (8)—Mozzi's son from a previous relationship—and Sienna (3). The caption reads, "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together early in the new year; a sibling for Wolfie and Sienna."
The caption continues, "His Majesty The King has been informed and both families are delighted with the news." One fan commented, "Huge congratulations to the Princess and her adorable little family." Another wrote, "Best wishes for a healthy and happy baby."
The big announcement comes just two weeks after Sienna celebrated her third birthday, which, according to Hello! Magazine, was celebrated with a unicorn-themed party. Sarah Ferguson told the outlet, "We had such a good time, with balloons and a fabulous unicorn cake from Tesco. I also gave her a pink mackintosh with glitter in it and I think mum was thrilled with that!"
The soon-to-be big sister was born in 2021. Shortly after her birth, the palace released a statement that read, “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Londo. The baby weighs 6 pounds and 2 ounces. The new baby’s grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news. The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf.”
