Orlebar Brown x Lamborghini Trunks Are a Staple

I love the thrill of driving Lamborghinis (My taste in cars, to clarify, is generally more vintage, like Mercedes models from the 50s when there weren't many regulations). My first experience was in an orange Huracan EVO Spyder, which I drove around up and down the coast of Monterey during Pebble Beach car week. Stiff car snobs bemoan about the car's flashiness, but the thrill is what makes the automobile intoxicating. Elegance is part of my everyday. What I want in a sporty car is transparent power and freedom.

Knowing that, you can only imagine how I feel when Lamborghini's design codes are applied to a swimsuit? Do you swim faster? No. Do you look cooler? Absolutely.

Orlebar Brown has been my go-to brand for swimsuits for years now. I find the shortcut of their bulldog swimsuit (I have three, each in different colors) ideal in length and the nylon that they're made out of to be flexible enough for you to enjoy watersports in them without being too flimsy. My favorite detail about them, however, is the gold clasps on the sides of the waistband. This adds a luxurious touch to the shorts that makes them easily styled with linen shirts and high-end sandals. The last time I was away at a tropical destination, I wore the shorts to explore the town after a morning dip and felt as good as I would've in a "regular" pair of shorts.

The three aforementioned Orlebar Brown swimsuits are in solid colors: one red, one white, and one black. Because I had a solid base collection, I thought it was time to have a bit of fun, and quickly copped a pair from their collaboration with Lamborghini. I chose the bulldog short with a drawstring, instead of the waistband clasps, because I loved how luxurious the gold accents look at the tips of the drawcords and loopholes. Aesthetically, the real fun of the shorts is in the print. Lamborghini's iconic hexagon motif (which is often seen in the interiors of the car) is placed on the short. The pair I chose are black, and the hexagons are outlined in a faint red. I know I've waxed poetic about the fun of being a little flashy, but I do think the subtle red is a smart move for those who aren't ready to fully lean into Ibiza energy poolside.

I wore the pair for the first time when we had a few friends over recently to enjoy the pool and the shorts proved to be a great conversation starter. The novelty of wearing printed shorts, instead of the normal solid shorts, was a bit of fun. Wearing the shorts transported me, and flashbacks of the first drive in that Lamborghini ensued in my mind.
