Fostering any animal can be a lot of work, but it's also incredibly rewarding to help such sweet pets heal from their past. However, one dedicated foster mom took on an especially large task when she welcomed a young cat and her five kittens into her home. Libby knew she'd have her hands (and bed) full for a while, but she didn't hesitate to lend a helping hand to a very special family.

Meet Nutmeg! This new mom has been giving her all to caring for her five kittens, which is the only reason they've all survived since being born on the street. Thankfully, the group was rescued and quickly sent to a foster home, where Libby ensured they had everything they needed to thrive. Now, they're all on the road to recovery--and adoption!

What sweet kitties! Nutmeg looks like such a gentle soul, and her babies are so tiny. It's hard to imagine how they survived on the street, but I know I'm not the only one breathing a sigh of relief now that this tabby cat and her little ones are safe and sound.

'Thank you for helping her be the best version of herself," commented @aldon1975. That's such a sweet way to put it! Nutmeg is still doing all the important work raising her kittens, but Libby's TLC and generosity are helping the mama cat meet her own needs so she can care for her babies.

But do you want to know what's even sweeter? Libby feels like Nutmeg is helping her heal, too. She replied, "I think she's helping me with that as well," and other pet owners know exactly what he means. Bonding with a rescue animal is an experience unlike anything other! Their gratefulness and healing are such gifts to witness, but nothing feels as good as knowing that you're helping to save a life.

Caring for Mama Cat and Kittens

Libby shares some truly adorable highlights from her time with Nutmeg and her newborn kittens, but viewers don't get to see all the work and adjustments that go into caring for foster cats. Fortunately, the mama cat takes care of most of the kitten care, so Liby can continue taking care of things one at a time.

Step one is to let a rescue cat decompress in a space of their own, which is why they've been cozying up in the bedroom since arriving at their new home. It's only a matter of time before Nutmeg gets access to the whole home, but even then, she'll be able to take things at her own pace.

Now that she and the babies are starting to feel at home, Libby will continue helping them get used to a daily routine similar to what they may have in a forever home. The kittens are still young, and it's only been a few days, but Libby's care has already started to make a difference!
