It's Day 3 of the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials at Hayward Field.

Aaliyah Butler bounces back from NCAA disappointment to qualify for Paris in women's 400, along with Kendall Ellis and Alexis Holmes

After not making the NCAA final two weeks ago at Hayward Field, Georgia sprinter Aaliyah Butler settled and got her mind right. Sunday night in Eugene, Butler qualified for the Olympics by finishing second in a personal best 49.71 seconds, just behind winner Kendall Ellis (49.46) and just ahead of Alexis Holmes (49.78).

All three will represent the red, white, and blue in Paris.

"I talked to my coach," Butler said of her adjustment from a disappointing NCAA run. "It was hard talks. I had to learn how to keep moving forward and not look in the past. The past is the past. I had to just keep looking forward at the future. Anything can happen any day.

"It’s a dream of mine and it came true. I’m very excited to go."

Athing Mu sets stage in 800 semis, pushed by LSU's Michaela Rose

LSU's Michaela Rose got out and running to start the women's 800-meter semifinals, pushing pros Athing Mu and Kate Grace throughout the entire first heat before eventually being passed at the finish line. Mu won the first heat with a scoring one minute, 58.84-second time while Grace finished right behind. Rose finished third, but qualified for the final on time in 1:59.00.

Oregon alum Raevyn Rogers ran a season-best 2:01.08 to win the second heat and automatically advance to the final Monday.

Annette Echikunwoke surprises field, wins women's hammer throw

With No. 3 women's hammer thrower in the world Brooke Anderson scratching three times and No. 2 thrower Janee Kassanavoid having an off day as well, Annette Echikunwoke won the women's hammer with a season-best 245-foot throw and hit the Olympic standard in the process.

DeAnna Price finished second (244 feet, 6 inches) and Erin Reese finished third (233 feet, 7 inches).

Oregon alum Kyree King misses 100-meter final by four thousandths of a second

Though he ran the Olympic standard and nearly hit a personal best, Oregon alum Kyree King finished third in his heat and four thousandths of a second behind the final at-large qualifier for the final in 9.966 seconds. Kendal Williams had the last qualifying position by time in 9.962 seconds.

Noah Lyles (9.80), Christian Coleman (9.86), Fred Kerley (9.89), and Brandon Hicklin (9.95) all advanced to the final later tonight.

What to know for Day 3 action at U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials

Day 3 action kicks off with the heptathlon 100 meter hurdles at 10 a.m. and concludes with the men's 100 meter final at 7:49 p.m.
