LSU football to be without starting safety out against South Carolina. Here's who

BATON ROUGE — For its Southeastern Conference opener, LSU football will be shorthanded on defense.

On top of the No. 16 Tigers (1-1) already missing senior defensive tackle Jacobian Guillory with a ruptured Achilles tendon he suffered during the Nicholls game last week. Now LSU will be without its starting free safety. Jordan Allen has been dealing with a lower leg injury since the USC game and he has officially been ruled out for South Carolina, per the SEC's player availability report.

LSU and South Carolina kickoff from Williams-Brice Stadium at 11 a.m. CT. (ABC) on Saturday.

Wide receiver Chris Hilton will miss his third straight game with the bone bruise. Defensive end Da'Shawn Womack is also listed out for Saturday.

Allen ranks fifth on the team in tackles with 10 through two games and has one pass breakup. He played sparingly in last week's game against Nicholls as the coaching staff wanted to rotate in a number of younger players so they could gain experience.

In Allen's place, sophomore Dashawn Spears should get the start for LSU.
