Lubbock police investigating shooting near Mackenzie Park that left two people dead

Two people are dead following a reported shooting Tuesday morning near Mackenzie Park.

According to LPD, officers responded at 8:18 a.m. to the 300 block of Cesar E. Chavez Drive for reported shots fired.

Around 11:20 a.m., LPD reported that one man was found dead on scene and a woman later died at a Lubbock hospital. A dog was also found dead on scene.

LPD has not released the individuals' identities at this time, but officials say they believe this is an isolated incident. The public is asked to avoid the area as the investigation develops.
