Manitowoc County, get set for the Nov. 5 election. Here's everything to know about the ballot and how to register to vote.
MANITOWOC – Three school district referendums and several state assembly seats representing Manitowoc County will be featured on the Nov. 5 ballot, in addition to the presidential race.
Because of changes in Wisconsin legislative maps, people may reside in a different assembly district than the last time they voted. Those maps can be checked at legis.wisconsin.gov.
Polls will be open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. on election day Nov. 5. Voters can check their polling place and more election information, including a sample ballot, at myvote.wi.gov.

Three school districts in Manitowoc County have referendums on the ballot
Kiel, Mishicot and Valders school districts each have a referendum question on the fall ballot. Voters will only see the referendum of the school district in which they reside.
Kiel Area School District
The referendum for Kiel schools asks: "Shall the Kiel Area School District, Manitowoc, Calumet and Sheboygan Counties, Wisconsin be authorized to issue pursuant to Chapter 67 of the Wisconsin Statutes, general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $67,000,000 for the public purpose of paying the cost of a school building and facility improvement project consisting of: construction of an addition and renovations at the current high school to create a combined middle/high school campus, including the relocation of the middle school and other programs and departments from the current middle school building to the combined campus, and safety, security and site improvements; district-wide capital maintenance and building infrastructure improvements; and acquisition of furnishings, fixtures and equipment?"
Mishicot Area School District
The referendum for Mishicot schools asks: "Shall the School District of Mishicot, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin be authorized to issue pursuant to Chapter 67 of the Wisconsin Statutes, general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $29,650,000 for the public purpose of paying the cost of a school building and facility improvement project consisting of: construction of additions and renovations at the middle/high school, including for a performing arts center, career and technical education space and a cafeteria/kitchen, and classroom, fitness and athletic facility improvements; renovations and construction of an outdoor classroom at the elementary school; district-wide capital maintenance, safety, security, building infrastructure, roof replacement and site improvements; and acquisition of furnishings, fixtures and equipment?"
Valders Area School District
The referendum for Valders schools asks: "Shall the School Board of the Valders Area School District be authorized to exceed the revenue limit under Section 121.91 of the Wisconsin Statutes beginning with the 2025-26 school year through the 2028-29 school year on a non-recurring basis by an amount of $1,500,000 each year for the purpose of paying district operating expenses including funds for a school resource officer, a math interventionist, an English language coordinator and to attract and retain quality staff, improve and upgrade district technology and to reopen and maintain the district/community pool as provided in the foregoing resolution?"
All county-level races are uncontested
Manitowoc County District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre is up for election and is the only candidate on the ballot.
There are three county-level seats up for election in the fall — county clerk, county treasurer and register of deeds.
Incumbent Jessica Backus is the only candidate for county clerk and incumbent Kristi Tuesburg is the only candidate for register of deeds.
Kathy Reissmann is the only candidate for county treasurer. She was recently appointed to the role after Amy Kocian resigned, and will serve for the remainder of Kocian's term.
When can I vote?
The presidential election will be Nov. 5 and polls will be open 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
People who are voting by absentee ballot must make sure their ballot request is received by the municipal clerk's office by Oct. 31, and their ballot must be received by the same office by Nov. 5.
People can also choose to vote using an early in-person ballot if available at their municipal clerk's office. Early in-person voting starts Oct. 22.
How do I register to vote?
People can register to vote in person at their municipal clerk's office or online at myvote.wi. In-person registration can also be done at the polls Aug. 13.
To register, people will need to provide proof of residence in the form of their driver's license, a bank statement, utility bill, etc.
