Matty Healy Is Engaged to Girlfriend Gabbriette Bechtel!

Congratulations are in order for Matty Healy and Gabbriette Bechtel!
The model confirmed on Instagram yesterday that she and the 1975 frontman are engaged. She shared two photos of her unique engagement ring to her Instagram Story, revealing a large black diamond surrounded by a halo of diamonds and set in a triple pavé band. Over one snap, she wrote, “MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT,” making a reference to the title of close friend Charli XCX’s latest album.
Healy’s mom, Denise Welch, also confirmed the couple’s surprise engagement during a new TV interview with ITV1 on Wednesday.
“They went over to see their friends, Charli and George, in New York. And I woke up this morning to the fact that they put it on Instagram,” Welch said. “Instagram official. He’s got engaged to Gabriella Bechtel—Gabbriette she’s known as.”
Welch went on to describe her future daughter-in-law’s ring: “Black diamond. He had it made for her.”
She continued, “I couldn’t be more thrilled. She’s from Los Angeles. She’s absolutely gorgeous. She does have a rat, Splinter. Anyway, we couldn’t be happier. She is everything that I would want in a daughter-in-law.”
The couple was first romantically linked together in September 2023 when paparazzi captured photos of the two kissing in New York City. Bechtel later reflected on their love story in an interview with Homme Girls.
“He came to L.A. and we’ve been in love ever since,” she said.
Their romance comes after Healy’s rumored and highly-publicized relationship with Taylor Swift. The singer’s fans suspect that multiple tracks on her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, make references to the duo's relationship. For her part, Swift has now been linked to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for nearly a year.
