McGregor seeks reelection to Wichita Falls ISD School Board

Katherine McGregor is running for reelection Nov. 5 to the Wichita Falls ISD School Board as an at-large trustee.

McGregor, who is the School Board president, said among many issues of interest, she wants to continue making progress toward enhancing the district's educational results.

Thanks to Dr. Donny Lee, the district's superintendent, and the McCoy Foundation, as well as the enthusiastic support of the School Board and teachers, WFISD has greatly improved its curriculum, McGregor said in a recent statement.

"However, there is still work to be done to have high academic results," McGregor, a real estate broker, said. "I have high hopes that every third grader becomes an accomplished reader! That's what I look forward to accomplishing in the foreseeable future."

She has served as a trustee for six years and is seeking her third term. McGregor was first elected in November 2018 for a two-year term as the district staggered elections for the two at-large positions on the School Board. She ran for election again and won a four-year term.

McGregor has been School Board president for two years and has helped pilot WFISD to firmer ground during difficult times after the pandemic.

"It has been an absolute honor to be involved with the WFISD as a member of the Board of Trustees," McGregor said in a statement. "I'm pleased to say this Board works well together and has willingly partnered with the Superintendent and our staff and teachers. We have made progress in every area."

As of Monday, McGregor was the only candidate who had applied for a place on the ballot for the upcoming School Board elections, according to WFISD.

Besides the contest for the at-large seat she holds, the Nov. 5 election has two other WFISD School Board races. They are for Place 2, held by Diann Scroggins and Place 4, held by Dale Harvey. Terms for these elected positions are for four years.

The filing period for WFISD School Board elections opened July 20 and will close at 5 p.m. Aug. 19. The last day to register to vote is Oct. 7.
