Miami Dolphins practice report: How did Tua Tagovailoa look on Day 3?

MIAMI GARDENS -- Tua Tagovailoa was back with a football in his hands Friday after sitting out Thursday's practice at Miami Dolphins training camp.

Coach Mike McDaniel telegraphed the change during his huddle with reporters, saying they should expect to see Tagovailoa perform "in a multitude" of ways.

Tagovailoa had been staging a "hold-in" as he and the club try to negotiate a contract extension.

Tagovailoa began seven-on-seven drills by finding TE Julian Hill for a nice gain. He later lobbed a ball over three defenders to River Cracraft.

Tagovailoa had a nice connection with Tyreek Hill, something you may have read once or twice before.

On the first play of 11-on-11s, Tagovailoa dropped a low snap. He didn't let it bother him. On the next play, he hit Hill on a bomb over Jalen Ramsey.

Other highlights:

  • Linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. had the orange jersey honors. Nik Needham broke up a pass that Walker thought he could intercept. After the ball hit the ground, Walker punished himself by doing pushups.

  • Jeff Wilson, who is fighting for a roster spot, broke a nice run. It wasn't his first of this camp. He also caught a short toss from Tagovailoa and made the most of the play. De'Von Achane also followed with a good gain.

  • RBs continued their hot streak as Salvon Ahmed broke a run. The defense appeared to be geared to stop a pass.

  • Kendall Fuller blew up a pass from Tagovailoa to Jaylen Waddle.

  • LB Cam Brown got into a brief skirmish, but players crowded around to the extent that it made it difficult to tell who ticked him off. It did not qualify as the first fight of training camp, according to Olympic judges.

  • Mo Kamara had a sack against Skylar Thompson. Thompson followed by finding Malik Washington for a long gain. Washington had to extend to haul it in, drawing applause from teammates.

  • Practice ended with Thompson finding Cracraft for a bomb over Siran Neal.
