Milwaukee Brewers vs Atlanta Braves: Four homers and counting against Charlie Morton

ATLANTA – The Milwaukee Brewers seek to build off two straight impressive offensive performances and sweep the Atlanta Braves on Thursday afternoon at Truist Park.

Their last sweep of at least three games over the Braves came from May 24-26, 2016, at Turner Field.

Right-hander Frankie Montas (5-8, 5.03) makes his second start for the Brewers (64-49) with right-hander Charlie Morton (6-6, 3.94) going for the Braves.

Willy Adames takes the team lead in homers

In a 1-2 count, Willy Adames joins the homer party by taking Morton over the wall in left-center. His 20th of the season broke a tie with Rhys Hoskins for the team lead.

Jake Bauers reached on a fielder's choice two batters later, was balked up to second and scored on yet another two-out hit, this one a single by Eric Haase that made it 8-0 and ended Morton's day.

Teeing off on Charlie Morton

There was more two-out damage by Milwaukee's offense, starting with a walk drawn by Brice Turang. White-hot Jackson Chourio followed up by homering to left-center one pitch after pulling a bunt attempt foul down the third-base line.

Not to be outdone, Garrett Mitchell then took Morton out to left-center, giving the Brewers back-to-back homers for the third time on the season as well as a 6-0 lead.

The offense continues to rake

A two-out single by Mitchell was followed by a 438-foot blast to left-center by William Contreras, who was once a battery mate of Morton's with the Braves.

Adames, up next, came about a foot short of homering to almost the same spot and settled for a double. Sal Frelick followed with a single to left to score Adames, and Montas had a three-run cushion with which to work on a typically hot and humid afternoon.
