Mindy Kaling gave Massachusetts, and Ben Affleck, a shoutout at the DNC. What she said
Actress and comedian Mindy Kaling, a Massachusetts native, gave her home state a shoutout while hosting the Democratic National Convention in Chicago Wednesday.
She also called out a few Massachusetts VIPs, including Ben Affleck, Jayson Tatum and Dunkin' coffee.
Kaling, who is from Cambridge, spoke during the convention in support of Vice President Kamala Harris. In her speech, she discussed her friendship with Harris and their shared Indian heritage.
Later in the night, the actress reappeared to introduce House Speaker Nancy Pelosi when she dropped a few jokes about Massachusetts lore.

Actress Mindy Kaling gave a shoutout to Massachusetts, her home state, during an appearance at the DNC Wednesday night.
"I love you Massachusetts! Everyone is always hating on us, but they just don't get it," Kaling said.
She cheered on Boston sports while also giving a bit of advice to fellow Massachusetts native, Ben Affleck, whose wife, Jennifer Lopez, filed for divorce earlier this week.
"Go Sox! Go Jayson Tatum! Ben Affleck, hang in there,” she said.
Kaling also declared Dunkin' "the best coffee in the world."

Who is Mindy Kaling?
Mindy Kaling is an actress, comedian and producer from Cambridge. She rose to fame for her role as Kelly Kapoor on "The Office" before starring in "The Mindy Project."
Her other work includes "Inside Out," "Despicable Me," "Never Have I Ever" and "The Sex Lives of College Girls."
Kaling appeared at the DNC Wednesday, where she spoke about her friendship with Vice President Kamala Harris. The two first met when Kaling hosted Harris at her California home to cook traditional Indian dosas in 2019.
