This Morning's Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield came to Loose Women's defence after Chris Moyles took a swipe at the panel.

Chris joined Holly and Phillip on the sofa yesterday (May 11) to discuss his new DJ tour, but he was left unimpressed after the hosts checked in with the Loose Women studio to see what was coming up on the show.

As Frankie Bridge and Jane Moore sat on the panel with tape covering their mouths, Kaye Adams explained that they would be discussing if there are benefits of sleeping with the tape on, after Tess Daly revealed on her Instagram feed that she does this.

When Kaye was done with her segment, which also introduced studio guest Mo Gilligan, Chris remarked: "Good Lord, the guests are on point, but they've finally run out of material on that show haven't they? What are they doing sticking tape on people's mouths?"

A visibly shocked Phil responded: "It's a big thing," to which Chris quipped: "They are making it up, Phillip!"

Holly then stepped in and reminded Chris that "Tess Daly does it," though Chris was having none of it and added: "Ah, she's absolutely crackers."

With that, Holly thanked Chris for his time and swiftly wrapped up the interview.

In a recent statement, Phillip denied rumours that he and Holly are feuding, insisting that they remain "the best of friends".

He continued: "The last few weeks haven't been easy for either of us.

"My family went through a real ordeal. And Holly's support throughout meant the world to me, as did the support of my bosses at ITV, my editor Martin Frizell and the whole This Morning family, including our amazing viewers. And, of course, Holly has herself been ill with shingles.

"Whatever happens, we still have each other to count on."

This Morning airs on weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
