These are the most popular baby names in every state

It's a nation full of Noahs, Theodores, Olivers, and Liams.

It was clear from the Social Security Administration's most recent data on the nation's most popular baby names that these names — plus Olivia, Charlotte, Evelyn, and Amelia — are current favorites.

It turns out that there's little variance in popular baby names based on geography, but two names stand out: John and Isla. They are the only No. 1 ranked state names that don't appear on the top 10 list nationwide. John ranks as No. 26 and Isla at No. 33 overall. But in two states they reign supreme (Mississippi and Hawaii respectively).

It's also worth noting which nationally popular names don't appear on the state-by-state list. Take James, Mateo and Lucas, which are all top 10 baby boy names but not the top name in any state. For baby girl names, it's the same story for Sophia, Mia, Isabella and Luna.
