Motorcyclist killed in Route 101 crash in Candia

Jun. 2—CANDIA — A 44-year-old Newmarket man was killed in a motorcycle accident Saturday evening on Route 101 in Candia, according to New Hampshire State Police.

The victim was identified as Ralph Cummings, who was operating a 2004 Harley-Davidson eastbound on the highway when the crash happened about 6:30 p.m.

According to witness statements, Cummings was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the motorcycle, which began fishtailing violently before crashing in the eastbound travel lanes.

Cummings, who was not wearing a helmet, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. State troopers are asking any witnesses to contact Trooper Seth Parker at Seth.W.Parker@DOS.NH.GOV.

The multi-agency response included personnel from the Candia and Raymond police departments, Candia Fire and Rescue, the Auburn Fire Department, and Precision Towing & Recovery assisting state police at the scene.
