"We want to thank Summar for his many years of service and dedication to the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department," said Chief Mark McCluskey. "We hope his retirement brings him great joy and new adventures.”

Summar began his career with MFRD in September 1994 as a firefighter. Throughout his career, Summar has served as a driver, Captain, Assistant Fire Marshal, Captain-Instructor and Battalion Chief.

“I didn’t get here by myself, I had a lot of help over the years,” Summar said. “It’s a passion for the calling to be a firefighter and it’s the best feeling in the world. My retirement is bittersweet.”

Summar was honored by command staff, colleagues, family and friends at Fire Station 4 on Thursday, Aug. 1.
