National TV show will feature local elementary students’ artwork in opening credits

KET

The PBS KIDS program “Lyla in the Loop” will feature artwork from four students from Picadome Elementary in Lexington this season, according to a KET news release.

The animated series, aimed at children ages 4 to 8, focuses on strategic problem solving and critical thinking skills. It put out a call in spring 2023 for student art to use in the program’s opening credits.

The second-grade art class at Picadome Elementary, taught by Gina Smith, submitted entries and four students --Laurel Bullock, Clementine Day, Matilda Day and Oliver McCaffrey -- all of whom are now going into fourth grade, were notified that their artwork will be featured on the program this season.

Lyla in the Loop airs on KET on weekdays at 11 a.m.

A post on the Facebook page called Picadome Art and Elementary Music said the artwork will be featured on Episodes 20 and 22.

“It appears all these episodes will air in fall of 2024,” the post said.
