Well, folks, we just got our first look at Austin Stowell playing one of the most iconic roles on NCIS.

The TV franchise is premiering their newest series NCIS: Origins on Friday, October 18 on CBS. The show follows Leroy Jethro Gibbs as he begins his time with the NCIS in the early 199os. While viewers associate Mark Harmon with originating the character back in 2003, now they'll get to see a different side with a first look at Austin taking over the role.

As the show posted a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram on July 13, folks witnessed Austin go through the physical transformation to becoming Gibbs for the first time.

"I'm Austin Stowell, I'm playing Leroy Jethro Gibbs in NCIS: Origins and here we go with our first haircut!" he said in the short clip. "Come on and watch."

When fans saw Austin go through the motions of achieving young Gibbs' look for NCIS: Origins, they bombarded the comments over how excited they were for what's to come.

"Telling me I'm crushing on young and old Gibbs now?!" one person exclaimed. "That face he makes at the end is just like Gibbs! I'm excited to see Origins!" another agreed. "You know at first I didn't see it but I think he'll work," a different follower added.

While a lot of details of NCIS: Origins are still classified, this is one step closer to getting to know this era of Gibbs. And it looks like fans aren't the only ones thrilled about the prospect, as Mark (who is also the show's executive producer) explained his elation over Austin stepping into his character's shoes.

"I joked about [fellow executive producer] Gina [Lucita Monreal] swooning, but the truth is she did. She may deny it, but she did," he told USA Today at the Television Critics Association Saturday. "And when (Austin) walked out of the room, she said, 'Now that guy is a star!'"
