New Netflix show will focus on Red Sox's 2004 World Series win. Here's the release date

It's been 20 years since the Boston Red Sox made one of the greatest comebacks in sports history, and in October, sports fans will get a full behind-the-scenes look at how the team did it.

Netflix announced on Monday, Sept. 9 that their documentary series "The Comeback: 2004 Boston Red Sox" will premiere in late October of this year. Directed by Colin Barnicle, the three-episode series will tell the story of the Red Sox journey to a title win in 2004 after an 86-year championship drought under "the curse of the Bambino."

Fans can expect to see an in-depth examination of the Red Sox's longstanding feud with the Yankees, which can be dated back to the start of the drought when the Red Sox sold "the Bambino" Babe Ruth to the Yankees in 1919.

Exclusive interviews with former manager Terry Francona, former general manager and vice president Theo Epstein, and former players like Pedro Martinez, David Ortiz and Kevin Millar will give an inside look at how the 2004 Red Sox broke the curse and brought home a World Series win.

How to watch 'The Comeback'

The docuseries will be available to watch on Netflix starting Monday, Oct. 23.

Earlier this year, Netflix also announced a series which documents the 2024 Red Sox season, set to premiere in 2025.
