1 dead, 2 injured after stabbing in East Village: NYPD

NEW YORK - One person was killed, and two others were injured in a stabbing in the East Village on Sunday afternoon.

According to the NYPD, at around 5:45 p.m., police responded to a 9-1-1 call about multiple people stabbed near Avenue A and East 14th Street.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 38-year-old man who had been stabbed in the neck, a 51-year-old woman who had been stabbed in the leg, and a 32-year-old man who had been stabbed in the back.

All three were taken to Bellevue Hospital. The 38-year-old man was pronounced dead, while the 51-year-old woman is listed in critical condition. The 32-year-old man is listed in stable condition.

Police took a 30-year-old man into custody at the scene, and recovered a cutting instrument.

The identity of the dead has not yet been released, pending family notification.
