A man has been arrested after reports of someone firing an arrow from a property.

Armed police officers responded to concerns someone had fired a crossbow in Bedminster Parade, Bristol, on Saturday afternoon into the adjacent Stillhouse Lane.

The officers arrested the man at around 16:10 BST, and seized a weapon that turned out to be a longbow and arrows.

Avon and Somerset Police told BBC West the man remains in custody.

Some surrounding roads were closed for around an hour, but started to reopen after 17:00 BST.

Police are asking anyone who may have captured footage of the incident to get in touch.
