Driver hits a tree, dies in an off-road car crash in Macon, sheriff’s office says

A driver veered off road and died in east Macon Sunday morning, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said.

The single-car crash occurred in the 2300 block of Shurling Drive just after 2 a.m., deputies said in a press release.

Jahuana Jackson, 24, the driver of a 2019 Toyota Camry, “lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a tree,” deputies said.

Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene and family was notified, according to the sheriff’s office.

The accident was under investigation and anyone with information related to the incident was urged to call the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500.
