You have to get there early, but the NWWA Fair is offering free entry on one day

The Northwest Washington Fair is offering free admission to some community members in Whatcom County, according to a news release from the fair’s general manager, Selena Burgess.

The fair begins Aug. 11 and runs through Aug. 20, and typically costs $15 for general admission.

But on special days throughout the fair, tickets will be free or discounted for certain members of the community including early risers, military personnel, kids, firefighters, law enforcement officers and Western Washington University students.

Here are the complimentary ticket days, who is eligible and how to get your free ticket:

Free Early Admission Day

On Aug. 14, all community members can receive free gate admission if they arrive between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. through gates two or five.

First Responders Day

On Aug. 15, all law enforcement officers, EMTs and firefighters along with their spouses and children will receive complimentary gate admission if they bring valid identification and enter through gates one or five.

Military Appreciation Day

On Aug. 16, all active duty, retired and veteran military personnel along with their spouses and children will receive free gate admission if they bring valid identification and enter through gates one or five.

Kids Day

On Aug. 17, children ages 12 and under will receive free admission if they enter through gates one or five.

Western Washington University Day

On Aug. 18, Western Washington University staff, students and alumni will receive $2 off gate admission if they have valid identification and purchase tickets at gates one or five.

The Northwest Washington Fair is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 11-20 and is located at 1775 Front St. Lynden.
