It’s almost back-to-school season on the Central Coast.

Local public school districts are gearing up for the 2024-25 academic year. While some students are preparing to hit the books soon, others still have a bit more time to savor summer vacation.

Here are some key dates for parents of children attending elementary, middle and high schools in San Luis Obispo County:

When is first day of school in SLO? Morro Bay?

San Luis Coastal Unified School District will hold its first day of school on Aug. 15, according to the district’s online instructional calendar for the 2024-25 school year.

The district has campuses in Los Osos, Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo serving students in transitional kindergarten through 12th grade, including:

Class resumes at Lucia Mar Unified School District campuses on Aug. 15.

Students in the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District return to campus on Aug. 15.

The district serves students at campuses across Paso Robles, including:
