'General Hospital' and its stars support castmate after she responds to racist trolls

“General Hospital” is rallying to the side of one of its co-stars.

The ABC soap opera posted a message of support June 18 on its Instagram page and X page for star Tabyana Ali after she was the target of racist comments online.

“General Hospital does not tolerate hatred or bigotry of any kind. Racism has no place in Port Charles. #GH is for everyone,” the message read, although Ali's name was not mentioned. The post prompted Ali to repost it on X, along with her writing, "I appreciate you so much ABC/GH."

The post came after Ali posted several messages on X on June 9, alluding to hateful comments she had received.

“To anyone that hates me. That’s absolutely fine,” she began. “I don’t know you and you don’t me but regardless I’m sending you peace, safety, and prosperity... I also pray you touch some grass, see the sun, eat a delicious meal, and find something to do. Peace and love.”

Ali continued by saying it’s important not to go low when the trolls do the same.

“Okay this is the last time I’m going to speak on this today but we cannot be feeding in to peoples hate,” she wrote. “We cannot be giving it back. We cannot stoop to rude/racist people’s level. It doesn’t help. We are fighting too many wars as it is. I believe we will have our world peace.”

“And Im sorry that this is the away you feel like you have to be seen,” she continued in another post. “I’m sorry that life isn’t happening how you want. But if you found something you loved to do other than hurting people. You would never have the energy to say what you’ve been saying to people ONLINE!"

Several of Ali's “General Hospital” castmates came to her defense on X.

“You hide behind a profile pix & spew hatred & racism at Tabyana, you spew it at every cast member of General Hospital & we condemn & reject it,” longtime star Nancy Lee Grahn wrote June 10. “We stand by our friend & colleague in her dignified & gracious response. There’s no place 4 racism of any kind in r beloved GH community.”

"Here, here, Nancy. I couldn’t have said it any better than that. #GH is for everyone," Genie Francis wrote June 18.

"I love you, Tabyana," wrote Maura West June 10. "I admire your strength and loving, open heart. You are a shining example of the best of humanity."

Ali has been on “General Hospital” since 2022, making her the third actor to portray the character of Trina Robinson.
