Georgia Power restores power to another 220K customers, responds to frustration
ATLANTA - 11:30 a.m. Monday: Georgia Power is now reporting 4,678 active outages in the state of Georgia, impacting 370,396 customers.

Georgia Power said on its website Sunday evening that they have restored power to more than 740,000 customers following the hurricane, meaning they restored power to 220,000 customers between Saturday evening and Sunday evening.
In a video posted on Sunday afternoon, the company said the following must be replaced:
5,000+ power poles
9,000+ spans of wire (equal to approximately 425 miles)
500+ transformers
The video also claims that 1,500+ trees on power lines must be removed or addressed.

The company also posted a response to the frustration voiced by its customers.

Georgia Power reports that approximately 25% of their transmission lines in the hardest-hit areas were affected. Currently, 14,000 employees are working to restore power to affected customers.

They urge everyone to stay away from downed power lines, assuming they are live and dangerous. Georgia Power also advises against attempting to remove tree limbs or any other objects from downed lines.
