Gloucestershire in pictures: Super moons and epic challenges

At any point, there are dozens of photographers out and about in Gloucestershire capturing snapshots of life, from news to sport and live entertainment.

Here is a selection of images taken in the county over the past few days.

Eyes to the sky: The week in Gloucestershire began with a chance to see a summer moon.

Despite being known as a blue moon, it appeared red because of North American wildlife smoke sitting in the atmosphere above the UK.

Epic effort: Gloucester Rugby legend Billy Twelvetrees led a 24 hour challenge to cycle 350 miles from the city to Leicester, Milton Keyes and Twickenham and then back again.

The 4Ed cycle challenge raised thousands of pounds for motor neurone disease charities in support of former team mate Ed Slater, who was diagnosed with MND two years ago.

Investigation: An arson attack on a public toilet on Bedford Street in Stroud on Thursday was described as "deplorable".

Stroud District Council confirmed it will remain closed until repair work can be completed and said "It is likely to cost several thousand pounds of taxpayers' money to repair."

It's a kids' life: This joyous photograph was taken at Westonbirt Arboretum at one of two new play areas, which include walkways, tree nets, rope bridges and climbing frames.

Built in partnership with the Forestry England and The Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum, the "natural playgrounds" are to encourage children to "connect with nature".

New home: Young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) across the county are excited about helping to raise £100,000 for a new premises.

Chapter One offers after school, holiday and weekend sessions for 100 young people, a service described by one mother as "massively changing everything for our family".

All aboard: A special train is celebrating the famous 'Pershore Plum'.

The locomotive is running at The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway on the line from Broadway station to Cheltenham Racecourse.
