Kaden Magwood is latest high school recruit to set Late Night visit to KU basketball

A third member of the high school basketball class of 2025 has announced plans to attend the Oct. 18 Late Night in the Phog as part of an official visit to Kansas.

Kaden Magwood, a 6-foot-3, 170-pound senior combo guard from Combine Academy in Lincolnton, North Carolina, told 24/7 High School Hoops on Tuesday he will visit KU on Oct. 18-20 and Auburn on Oct. 10-12.

Magwood, who is ranked No. 53 nationally by 247Sports and No. 60 by both ESPN and Rivals, is slated to visit North Carolina State Wednesday through Friday.

He also is planning on visiting Mississippi, Memphis, Georgia Tech, USC, Louisville, Mississippi State and Wake Forest. He has heard from Kentucky, Villanova, Georgia and others.

Also visiting KU for Late Night: Isaiah Denis, a 6-5, 170 senior combo guard from Davidson (North Carolina) High and Jalen Haralson, a 6-7, 205 senior forward from La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana. Haralson is ranked No. 7 by Rivals, No. 9 by ESPN and No. 13 by 247Sports. Denis is ranked No. 41 by 247Sports, No. 94 by ESPN and No. 100 by Rivals.

Magwood, who is from Louisville, told Rivals.com he’d like to take a jump in the national rankings.

“I just feel like I should be at least in the top 30 in any ranking,” Magwood said. “All of the guys that are supposed to be above me that I’ve played against, I’ve outplayed them. It’s a little frustrating, but I know I just have to keep working.”

Magwood averaged 16.6 points a game his junior year at Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. He averaged 18.3 points and 3.7 assists per game at the recent NBPA Top 100 Camp.

His Team Loaded (Virginia) AAU team went 19-0 on the Adidas 3SSB circuit. He averaged 27.0 points a game at the Adidas 3SSB Championship.

“I see other guards moving up, but my numbers are a lot higher and things like that,” Magwood told Rivals. “I don’t concentrate on this stuff, but I notice everything. I have a lot of goals. I want to be a McDonald’s All American and all that stuff, so that’s why this matters. I’m just using it all as motivation.”

Of Magwood, Rivals’ Jason Jordan wrote: “Magwood’s reputation as a lethal and efficient scorer is firmly cemented. His ability to move without the ball and find lanes then create off the dribble and drain contested shots has been his claim to fame, even more so this summer.”

KU will entertain two prospects in the class of 2025 this week. Slated to visit Thursday through Saturday are Eric Reibe, a 7-0, 230-pound center from Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland, and London Jemison, a 6-8, 170-pound small forward from St. Thomas More in West Hartford, Connecticut.

Originally from Germany, Reibe is ranked No. 25 by ESPN, No. 45 by 247Sports and No. 66 by Rivals. Jemison is ranked No. 48 by ESPN; No. 51 by Rivals and No. 94 by 247Sports.

Others to visit KU in coming weeks/months: Tounde Yessoufou, 6-5 forward, St. Joseph High, Santa Maria, California (Oct. 4-6); A.J. Dybantsa, 6-9 forward, Utah Prep Academy in Manti, Utah (Sept. 6-8); Sebastian Williams-Adams, 6-7, 235 small forward, Saint John’s High School, Houston (Sept. 13-15); Hudson Greer, 6-7, 190 small forward, Montverde (Florida) Academy (Nov. 1-3).

The country’s consensus No. 3 prospect, Darryn Peterson has already visited KU. The 6-5, 195 combo guard from Huntington Prep in West Virginia also has visited Kentucky and USC. He’s slated to visit Ohio State this weekend. He also wants to visit K-State, Washington, Arizona State and Louisville.

KU also is planning on setting up a visit date for Niko Bundalo, a 6-10, 215 forward formerly of Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio, headed to Prolific Prep in California. He is ranked No. 24 by ESPN and 247Sports and No. 37 by Rivals.
