Man dies in an early-morning Columbus shooting, police say. Tips encouraged.

A man died early Monday morning in a Columbus shooting, according to the Columbus Police Department.

Police responded to the shooting call just after 2:20 a.m. Monday in the 5500 block of Miller Road, CPD said. They found Brody Birks, 34, suffering from a gunshot wound. Birks was taken by ambulance to Piedmont Columbus Regional, where he later died.

He was pronounced dead by an emergency room doctor at 3:52 a.m., police said.

The CPD Violent Crimes Unit was leading the investigation, police said Monday.
