Some North Texas residents were told to shelter in place Wednesday morning while firefighters battled a three-alarm chemical fire at a pool supply warehouse in Frisco.

Video footage from Star-Telegram media partner WFAA shows a massive plume of smoke coming from Texas Pool Supply, which is located at 10550 John W. Elliott Drive.

The fire was reported around 7:45 a.m., Frisco Fire Marshal Kelly Kistner said at a news conference. Some chemicals were released as a result of the fire, and HAZMAT crews also responded to the blaze.

According to Kistner, three primary chemicals — pool salt, chlorine and pool shock — were involved in the fire. Two of those are considered hazardous, Kistner said.

The shelter in place has been lifted, Frisco city officials posted on social media around 9:30 a.m. The Frisco Fire Department is monitoring air quality in the area, and as of around 10:15 a.m. no harmful readings were detected.

Ten first responders, including three firefighters and seven police officers, are being treated at a local hospital, city officials said in a social media post around 2:10 p.m. Everyone is in stable condition.

It was previously reported that two firefighters were sent to a local hospital “as a precautionary measure.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.
