Ohio State women's basketball: Jacy Sheldon, Taylor Mikesell named first-team All-Big Ten
Ohio State's top two scorers, and one of the best guard duos in the country, were given all-conference honors.
Junior guard Jacy Sheldon and senior guard Taylor Mikesell were named first-team All-Big Ten selections by the coaches and media on Tuesday. Sheldon and Mikesell finished sixth and seventh on the Big Ten season scoring leaderboard, averaging 19.4 and 19.1 points per game, respectively.
Sheldon was a unanimous selection by coaches.
Led by Sheldon and Mikesell, the No. 13 Buckeyes won a share of the Big Ten title for the first time since 2018 this past weekend. They are the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten tournament beginning Wednesday. Ohio State will face the winner of Michigan State and Purdue at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
Together, Sheldon and Mikesell scored 48.1% of Ohio State's points in the regular season. Sheldon proved throughout the season to be the Buckeyes' go-to shot creator, while Mikesell lit up opponents from 3-point range.
Mikesell led the Big Ten in 3s made per game (3.7) and 3-point field-goal percentage (47.1%). Nationally, Mikesell ranks third in total 3-pointers made, and second in 3-point shooting percentage.
