Patrick Mahomes joined scrum to help shove Chiefs’ Isiah Pacheco into end zone

This wasn’t exactly the Chiefs’ version of the Eagles’ Tush Push, but it was effective and involved the quarterback.

Running back Isiah Pacheco scored on a 1-yard run on the Chiefs’ opening drive of the third quarter, and it didn’t come easily.

Pacheco appeared to be stopped short during Thursday night’s NFL Kickoff Game against the Baltimore Ravens at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

But teammates came in and helped push Pacheco into the end zone. Check out this play.

Did you see which player was the first to join the scrum? It was quarterback Patrick Mahomes. His shove started the change in momentum on the play and Pacheco reached the end zone.

Here’s a closer look at Mahomes not shying away from doing what it takes to help a teammate get the touchdown. Mahomes also ended up in the end zone on the play.

Mahomes joked after the Chiefs’ 27-20 win that he should have been given a half touchdown on the play because he also crossed the goal line.

When asked about Mahomes’ push after the game, coach Andy Reid said: “I was hoping he’d keep his legs out the way. And arm.”
