Peace Doves artwork installed at cathedral

A cascade of peace doves has been put on display for visitors to see at Lincoln Cathedral.

Suspended from the nave of the cathedral, the 12,000 paper doves hold messages of hope, peace and love from visitors and locals.

The installation is the work of sculptor Peter Walker, accompanied with music composed by David Harper and will be on display from 5 September to 14 November 2024.

Mr Walker said the doves represent "a vision of peace created by all of us".

"It's really about that big expression of community hope, peace and wishes.

"Over the years it's evolved from the commemoration of World War One to anything that's going on in the world around us from personal issues right through to the big conflicts going on in the world today.

"It has thousands of individual fingerprints within it which is my job as an artist to bring it together."
